JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – November 10, 2009 – Lender Processing Services, Inc. (NYSE: LPS), a leading provider of integrated technology and services to the mortgage and real estate industries, is pleased to announce that the Florida Association of Code Enforcement has approved the upcoming LPS Code Enforcement Summit, hosted by LPS Field Services and LPS Asset Management Solutions as a continuing education course for its membership. The primary goals of the summit are to educate code enforcement professionals about how the field services industry works and to help build relationships between code enforcement, field services and asset management professionals that work with code enforcement to handle the day-to-day issues related to code violations.
LPS hosted similar events earlier this year in Ohio, Texas and California. LPS then petitioned the Florida Association of Code Enforcement to approve its Summit program as a continuing education course. The approval of the Summit as a continuing education course is the first of its kind and is expected to attract a large group of code enforcement professionals. As of the date of this release, more than 92 code enforcement officials representing over 39 cities have committed to attending the Summit. This will allow LPS to continue its efforts to educate the public sector about default servicing and field services processes and facilitate relationship building, thereby aiding community efforts to minimize code violations.
Code enforcement attendees will learn how the default mortgage servicing industry addresses property maintenance. They will also be able to discuss possible solutions to keep default properties compliant with Florida community standards. Additionally, attendees will be able to participate in an open dialogue with multiple field services companies invited by LPS.
The summit will afford code enforcement professionals the opportunity to connect with field services professionals dedicated to working with them to quickly address code violations, vacant property and other maintenance issues. There will also be a discussion about the legislative guidelines applicable to lenders and field services companies, and an examination of the laws specific to Florida municipalities. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of the overall field services process, along with a summary of services performed by the field services industry and typical foreclosure preservation servicing timelines.
The Florida Association of Code Enforcement requires that its certified code enforcement professionals attend 16 hours of continuing education courses every two years to remain certified. Many other state code enforcement associations have similar requirements. LPS plans to pursue continuing education course approvals for summits it plans to host in other states in the near future.
The Florida Code Enforcement Summit is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, 2009, from noon to 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Sheraton Safari Hotel in Orlando, Florida.
